October 2024 – Seminar on “The Power of Interfaith Dialogue”
The “Power of Interfaith Dialogue” seminar successfully fostered a space for youth workers to develop essential “diversity management” skills.
Co-organized by SALTO Inclusion & Diversity and the Austrian National Agency for the Erasmus+ program, the seminar aimed to equip participants with the tools to create inclusive environments, empower young people to engage with religious diversity, and address the challenges faced by those at risk of religious discrimination. Through interactive sessions and expert discussions, participants gained a deeper understanding of interfaith dialogue, its mechanisms, and its potential to build bridges between communities. They explored diverse forms and practices of interfaith engagement, reflecting on their personal beliefs, structural issues, and organizational practices.
As a guest speaker, CEO of URI MENA, Mammoun Khreisat, offered valuable insights into youth engagement with religion, the influence of social media on identity formation, and the role of young people in promoting interfaith dialogue. He also addressed key challenges and obstacles to youth participation, providing practical strategies for overcoming them. The outcomes of this seminar will be invaluable in shaping the upcoming publication, “The Power of Interfaith Dialogue,” jointly produced by SALTO Inclusion & Diversity and the Austrian National Agency. This resource will serve as a valuable tool for youth workers and organizations seeking to promote interfaith understanding and create more inclusive communities.
