September 2024 – Empowering Women Through Self-Care: Workshop Day in Madaba

On September 21st, the last part of URI’s Self-Care workshop series took place in Madaba, Jordan. This event wrapped up a series that brought women and girls from all over the country together, focusing on emotional well-being, personal growth, and building connections in the community.

Facilitated by the passionate and skilled Alaa and Abeer, 14 women and girls from the Madaba community gathered for a day of learning, sharing, and self-discovery. The workshop explored crucial topics such as self-care, emotional awareness, and overcoming feelings of shame—issues that deeply affect women’s lives.

The session was dynamic and interactive, guiding attendees through a range of engaging activities. Starting with an exploration of their current understanding of self-care, participants took part in association exercises that got them thinking more deeply about their emotional and physical well-being.

In small group discussions, the women explored thought-provoking questions such as: “What is the relationship between self-care and self-improvement?” and “How often do you prioritize your own self-care?” These conversations not only sparked reflection but also created a space for connection and mutual support.

A highlight of the day was a lively discussion on the many dimensions of self-care—emotional, social, and physical—and the importance of incorporating self-care into daily life. Attendees shared personal insights and resources, exchanging ideas on how to integrate practices of well-being into their routines.

The workshop concluded with a renewed sense of empowerment, as participants left feeling more equipped to take charge of their well-being and embrace the journey of self-improvement. This series was more than just a learning experience—it was a celebration of resilience, self-love, and the strength of community.
