August 2024 – Youth Day Conference

The International Youth Day is an observance day held annually on August 12th. It was established by the United Nations in 1999 to recognize the contributions of young people to society and to raise awareness about the challenges they face. Each year, the day is marked by various activities and events around the world, focusing on a specific theme related to youth issues.

The day provides an opportunity to celebrate young people’s voices, actions, and initiatives, and to engage them in discussions about their role in creating a better future. Themes in the past have covered a range of topics, including education, employment, health, civic engagement, and environmental issues.

URI hosted the Youth Day with volunteers and CC members under the age of 30. It is important to invest in the youth, give them a voice and listen to their visions and ideas. The URI Youth Day was designed in a very interactive way – the participants themselfes chose the topics and prepared the presentations. Sawsan took over with the first motivational speech titled “Crushed Teacher,” followed by Aseel’s “Conversation Skills” session.

Marah then lead a session on “Healthy Social Media.” It was all about how to use Social Media in a correct way and how to use the internet also for relaxation and meditation.

The afternoon continued with Malek discussing “Sports and Lifestyle”. Faisal’s session on “Youth Engagement Politics” has been very enriching. Tulin concluded the day with her energizing speech about youth success stories.

Special thanks to all participants and the following Cooperation Circles represented: Desert Bloom, Sulha CC, Green School, and All Jordan Youth.
